Hubert Brohl

Hubert Franz Brohl (born June 2, 1913 in Düsseldorf ; † February 18, 2006 there ) was the second president of the German Badminton Association from 1962 to 1971 .

The man from Düsseldorf came to the sport of badminton through athletics and table tennis. As a pioneer in 1953, he co-founded the DBV and the Badminton Regional Association of North Rhine-Westphalia. Even then, Hubert Brohl took on responsibility in the associations of the young sport. In 1954 he became chairman of the DBV Association Court, from 1958 to 1961 he was vice-president and from 1962 to 1971 president. He had taken over the office from the Bonn entrepreneur Hans Riegel . In his capacity as President of the DBV, he was also a co-founder of the European Badminton Union . Here he initially worked as a Council Officer and from 1968 to 1971 as Vice President. He brought the first European championship held by the EBU to Bochum in 1968 .

Hubert Brohl took over the presidency of his regional association in North Rhine-Westphalia in 1955 and then headed the largest regional association of the DBV for 12 years. From 1958 he also held the position of managing director. He was also active on the field and in 1957 was West German champion in age group O 40 in men's doubles.

The DBV awarded him the ring of honor in 1960. The State Association of North Rhine-Westphalia awarded him the silver and gold badges of honor.
