Live and act

After attending compulsory school, he attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich , but was unable to complete it after being drafted into the Wehrmacht . He came back wounded in 1945 and first had to devote himself to his job, working as an illustrator and press draftsman.

At the International Summer Academy for Fine Arts in Salzburg with Slavi Soucek , with Werner Gisevius in Paris and with Wilhelm Traeger , he received impulses that were decisive for his further development in the field of graphics. His drawings, linocuts and monotypes from the 1960s and 1970s were on view in 14 countries in Europe and North America. He was in contact with a French art school, but could not accept a Paris scholarship for professional reasons.

He has lived and worked in Vienna since 1974 . Blindness and restoration of eyesight as well as recovery from a life-threatening illness were phases in his life that had an impact on his artistic work, whereby he devoted himself increasingly to painting.

From 1965 the artist showed his works in numerous solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions at home and abroad. His works can be found in numerous Austrian art collections as well as in the Swedish museums Sulaimaniyya and Riksorganisation Medborgarskolan Uppsala .

Several study trips took him to Spain, Greece, Italy, Yugoslavia and North Africa.
