Hubert Lienhard

Hubert Lienhard (born January 11, 1951 in Triberg in the Black Forest ) is a German manager. From April 1, 2008 to March 2018, he was Chairman of the Group Management of Voith GmbH & Co. KGaA.

Life

After studying chemistry and obtaining his doctorate, Lienhard joined Lurgi GmbH in 1981, where he worked for several years in the USA and Scotland. In 1989 he moved to ABB Kraftwerke AG, Mannheim. There he was initially head of the gas turbine business and became a member of the board in 1993. In 1994 Lienhard was appointed to the Management Board of ABB AG Germany and in 1996 also became a member of the Board of Management of the power plant division of ABB Ltd. Zurich. During this time, he headed the global steam power plant division of the ABB Group .

Lienhard began his time at Voith GmbH in 2001 as a member of the Management Board. Since 2002 he was entrusted with the task of chairing the management of Voith Siemens Hydro Power Generation GmbH & Co. KG (today: Voith Hydro Holding GmbH & Co. KG) and other functional responsibilities. Voith Hydro is a joint venture between Voith and Siemens in the field of mechanical and electrical equipment for hydropower plants.

In 2008 Lienhard succeeded Hermut Kormann at the head of what was then Voith AG, today's Voith GmbH & Co. KGaA. After ten years at the helm of the Voith Group, he retired as planned in April 2018 at the age of 67.

At the end of his term of office, Hubert Lienhard received the ring of honor from the city of Heidenheim in January 2018, the city's second highest honor.

Lienhard was a member of the Board of Directors of Sulzer AG until April 14, 2011 . He currently has a seat on the supervisory bodies of the Baden-Württemberg energy supplier EnBW , the precious metals and technology company Heraeus Holding and the plant and mechanical engineering company SMS Group .

Lienhard is a member of the narrow board of the VDMA, member of the presidium of the East Asian Association. V. (OAV), member of the Indo-German Advisory Group and member of the German-Chinese Dialogue Forum.

AG, Peter Löscher, chaired the Asia-Pacific Committee of German Business (APA). In accordance with the articles of association, he handed over this position to Joe Kaeser in 2019 after leaving the Voith management team the year before.

Private

Lienhard is married and has two children.
