Hubert Alfred Wallace (born March 3, 1899 in Vancouver , † July 3, 1984 in Oak Bay ) was a Canadian sailor .

successes

Hubert Wallace, the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club sailed, won in 1932 in Los Angeles at the Olympic Games in the 8-meter class silver medal. He was a crew member of the boat Santa Maria , led by skipper Ronald Maitland , which finished all four races in second place, behind the only other boat, the Angelita from skipper Owen Churchill from the United States. In addition to Wallace, the crew of the Santa Maria also included Peter Gordon , George Gyles , Ernest Cribb and Harry Jones .

In 1972 the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club made him an honorary member for life. Because of his interest in aviation, he was also a member of the Aero Club of British Columbia . Wallace worked in his father's Burrard Dry Dock .
