Hubertus Müller-Groeling

Hubertus Müller-Groeling (born November 9, 1929 in Osterode , East Prussia ; † October 24, 2019 in Kiel ) was a German economist .

Life

Müller-Groeling studied economics and graduated from the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg in 1958 . He received his doctorate from Saarland University in 1964 . From 1959 to 1968 he was an assistant there, switched to the Christian-Albrechts-Universität Kiel in 1969 and worked at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy from 1970 to 1994 . From 1983 to 1994 he was director at this institute and from 1989 to 1994 its vice-president.

From 1973 to 1987 Müller-Groeling was a member of the board of trustees of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation , from 1987 to 1991 deputy chairman and until 2007 a member of the board . From 1987 to 2003 he was chairman of the foundation's selection committee for the promotion of talented students. He was temporarily a member of the board of trustees of the Wolf-Erich-Kellner Memorial Foundation . He was a member of the American Economic Association , the Royal Economic Society, and the Society for Economics .
