Hugo Gebert

Karl Friedrich Adolf Hugo Gebert (born November 9, 1888 in Bremen ; † August 30, 1944 there ) was a German lawyer and politician .

Life

Born the son of a teacher, Gebert studied law in Erlangen and Kiel after attending the old grammar school in Bremen . During his studies in 1907 he became a member of the Bubenreuth fraternity in Erlangen. He completed his studies with an exam in 1912 and a doctorate to become a Dr. iur. 1914 from. In the First World War he last served as first lieutenant in the reserve . During the November Revolution he stood on the side of the bourgeoisie and confirmed himself politically, which is why he was arrested in 1918 by the Bremen Soldiers' Council / Spartakusbund and sentenced to death. However, the sentence could not be carried out as the population protested for his release. Gebert became a member of the German People's Party and passed his second state examination in 1920 . He worked as a lawyer in Bremen, later also as a notary . He also became managing director of the Bremer Industriegesellschaft mbH. From 1921 to 1933 he was a member of the Bremen citizenship , in 1933 its first vice-president. From 1933 to 1942 he was head of the industrial air raid protection in Bremen and the trust center for the Bremen plant air raid protection area. From 1933 to 1939 he was President of the Bremer Eiswette . He died in an air raid on Bremen .
