Hugo Hildebrand Hildebrandsson.

Hugo Hildebrand Hildebrandsson (born August 19, 1838 in Stockholm , † July 29, 1925 ) was a Swedish meteorologist .

From 1878 to 1907 he was a professor at Uppsala University .

In 1888 he became a member of the Swedish Academy of Sciences and was there also a member of the Nobel Committee for Physics. Since 1907 he was a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Saint Petersburg . In 1912 he became a corresponding member of the Académie des Sciences in Paris.

Hildebrandsson is considered to be the discoverer of the Southern Oscillation , who first noticed the connections between the air pressure fluctuations between Sydney and Buenos Aires . He was also significantly involved in the classification of clouds .
