Hugo III von Le Puiset ( French : Hugues du Puiset ; * around 1091, † after 1128) was a lord of Le Puiset and vice-count of Chartres . He was the son of Evrard III. and the Alice of Corbeil.

After he took over the rule, Hugo III participated. from 1108 in a long-standing rebellion of lords of the Île-de-France against King Louis VI. of France . He was primarily motivated to gain the county of Corbeil , to which he had a claim, but which the king wanted to incorporate into the crown domain . In the course of this rebellion, the king destroyed the castle of Le Puiset in 1111, captured Hugo and locked him in Château-Landon . After he had renounced Corbeil in 1112, Hugo was released; however, he immediately rejoined the rebels. He rebuilt Le Puiset and defended it in 1118 against the king's troops, whose Seneschal Anseau de Garlande was killed.

Ultimately, however, Hugo had to give up the fight. His last document issued in France dates back to 1128 when he stated his intention to move to the holy land , where he had relatives in Jaffa . The year of his death is unknown. The year 1132 is often mentioned when a Huges du Puiset was killed in the fight against the Muslims. However, this can be confused with the death of his cousin Hugo II of Jaffa , who died around the same time.
