Le Puiset is a village and a former French community with 425 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Eure-et-Loir in the region Center-Val de Loire . It belonged to the Arrondissement of Chartres and the Canton of Voves (until 2015: Canton Janville ).

With effect from January 1, 2019, the formerly independent municipalities of Janville , Allaines-Mervilliers and Le Puiset were merged to form the Commune nouvelle Janville-en-Beauce and have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in Janville.

history

In the 11th century, Le Puiset was an important rule within the Domaine royal . The lords of Le Puiset dominated the Beauce and fought with the Bishop of Chartres and the Capetians for local supremacy.
