Hulda Graf

Hulda Graf , b. Meyer (born July 20, 1879 in Winzerla ; † January 18, 1944 in Jena-Winzerla ) was a German politician ( USPD , SPD ).

Life

Hulda Graf lived in Jena until 1906 , then moved to Braunschweig and married a carpenter there in 1910. In the following years she was a housewife. In 1920 and from 1922 to 1925 she worked as a welfare worker, from 1925 to 1928 as a youth welfare worker and from 1928 until her dismissal on July 1, 1933 as a state welfare officer in Braunschweig. In addition, she worked for the workers' welfare from 1922 .

Graf joined the SPD in 1912 and was active in the child protection commission of the union cartel . She switched to the USPD in 1917, was a member of the First Workers' Council in 1918, and from 1920 to 1922 a member of the USPD District Executive in Braunschweig. From 1922 she was again a member of the SPD, for which she also sat on the Braunschweig district executive from 1923 to 1931. In the state elections in 1920, 1922, 1924, 1927 and 1930, she was elected as a member of the Braunschweig Landtag .

After the National Socialists came to power , Graf was taken into “ protective custody ” in March 1933 and forced to give up her mandate in the state parliament using force. In the following years she worked as a seamstress . In July 1942 she returned to her place of birth.
