Huldrich Arnold Seifert

Huldrich Arnold Seifert (born November 6, 1828 in Ebnat , † February 13, 1885 in Bern ; reformed citizen of Wartau ) was a Swiss lawyer and member of the Canton of St. Gallen.

Life

Huldrich Arnold was the son of Huldreich Seifert , Dean and Cantonal Councilor, and von Margreth geb. Mündli. In 1858 he married Anna Luise Amalia Hofmann, daughter of a Zurich cantonal councilor. He was a half-brother of the St. Gallen government councilor Hermann Seifert . He completed a law degree in Heidelberg from 1847 to 1849 and took part in the Baden Revolution in 1849 . From 1852 to 1854 he was editor of the liberal St. Galler Zeitung .

From 1854 to 1859 he served as an interrogator and from 1859 to 1861 as a district judge. From 1861 to 1873 he was district post director of the canton of St. Gallen and from 1873 to 1885 administrative railway inspector in Bern.

With interruptions he was a free-thinking cantonal councilor (1853 to 1857, 1859 to 1861 and 1872).

From 1872 to 1873 he was a Councilor of the Canton of St. Gallen.

Services

Huldrich Arnold Seifert was heavily involved in the party struggles of the 1850s in the canton of St. Gallen. In 1861 he worked as a constitutional councilor on the fourth cantonal constitution for the canton of St. Gallen.
