Huldreich Seifert , also Huldrych Seifert (born January 27, 1801 in Oberschan , † November 1, 1882 in St. Gallen , citizen of Wartau ) was a Swiss theologian and politician . He was a member and president of the Grand Council of the Canton of St. Gallen (1839–1870).

Life

Seifert studied Protestant theology in Tübingen , where he became a member of the Arminia fraternity in 1817 . In 1824 he became pastor in Fläsch , Ennetbühl and until 1874 in Ebnat . From 1834 to 1870 he was chapter dean . From 1839 to 1870 he was a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of St. Gallen, of which he was president several times. From 1839 to 1848 he was a cantonal and educational councilor and until 1849 president of the Protestant synod of the canton of St. Gallen.

His son Huldrich Arnold Seifert was a lawyer and councilor of the canton of St. Gallen. His son Hermann Seifert was a pastor, journalist and councilor of the canton of St.Gallen.
