Humayun Ansari

Khizar Humayun Ansari OBE (* 1947 ) is a British historian .

Life

Ansari earned a Ph.D. ( The Emergence of Socialist Thought Among North Indian Muslims, 1917–1947 ) at the University of London . Since 1990 he has been Professor of Islam and Cultural Diversity at the Department of History there and Director of the Center for Minority Studies .

Ansari conducts research on ethnic minority and equal opportunities ( ethnic groups , identity , Islam , Islamism , Islamophobia and migration ). Ansari has published several books and is heard in national and international media.

He advises various UK authorities and institutions such as the Chief constable of the Hampshire Police , the Judicial Studies Board and the Police Staff College in Bramshill . Ansari also held briefings for the Home Office , the Cabinet Office and the Crown Prosecution Service . In 2004 he became special advisor to the Home Affairs Committee on Terrorism and Community Relations . He has taught at the Royal United Services Institute , the Defense Academy of the United Kingdom and the Security Service .

Ansari is married and has two children.
