Humboldt is a small town in Richardson County in the American state of Nebraska . Most of the 427 households live in farmers .
Humboldt is in the area known for its successful High School - Basketball Team that in 2000, the C-2 Nebraska state championship won.
Humboldt gained notoriety when in 1993 21-year-old Brandon Teena was cruelly raped by two locals because of his transsexualism and was finally murdered to cover up the crime. His case was made into a film in 1999 ( Boys Don't Cry ).
