Hunger was a American psychedelic rock band that in 1968 in Portland ( Oregon was founded) by Mike Parkinson, Bill Daffern, John Morton, Steve Hanse and Tom Tanory.
The only studio album released during the band's creative period, "Strictly From Hunger", was only released in small numbers. These are mostly titles with longer instrumental passages. The interplay of organ , guitar and drums showed that Hunger had development potential in the direction of hard rock , progressive or fusion - styles that were only hinted at in 1968/69.
Most of the tracks were re-recorded a little later with the help of Ed King ( Strawberry Alarm Clock ). Only a few test pressings were made from the debut, which had been modified in this way.
As a result of two independent thefts of their equipment, the band broke up in 1969, and the so-called "Lost Album" was not to be released until the turn of the millennium.

The band's music was strongly influenced by the sound of the time, psychedelic rock music. The influence of other musical styles such as jazz , blues , pop , rhythm & blues could also be heard. Due to the high use of organ sounds, Hunger itself was a style-defining element.
