The name Hungerow is documented for 1454 . The Vorwerk was under the manorial rule of the Putzkau manor until 1400 and then became the property of the Bischofswerda Council. The Hungerauhof, located in the southwestern part of the old town of Bischofswerda, was built on with town houses. The adjacent map from 1793 still bears the name Der Hof . Today the street name Am Hof reminds of him.

The parcel Der Hunger or Die Hungerau is located at the meeting of the districts of Bischofswerda, Putzkau and Weickersdorf . Today, hunger is a weekend home area with a partial allotment structure and is used for local recreation. In 1785, 321 parcels on the Viehleden were hereditary handed over to the citizens for eight groschen annual interest. Therefore, a so-called Hausfleckl belongs to some residential buildings in the city. The site is developed as an extension of the Süßmilchstraße from the Viehlendenweg . Another part of the hunger is a wooded area north of the former Chicago brickworks , about 14 hectares, overgrown with oak , poplar and larch : the deer grove . The ox pond nearby was drained in 1816 and partly sown with alder trees. Spruce trees were planted in 1884 and 1885.

Since the end of 2011, the area has been cut through by a bypass connecting the southern B 98 with the B 6 .
