Authors and topics
The editor and author was the military and naval writer Victor Laverrenz until his death ; other authors were u. a. Hans Oberländer and Robert Heymann alias Max Ladenburg. According to the publisher, the covers were drawn by the military painter Adolf Wald, who, according to Galle, had an excellent optical quality.
The series covered both historical and fictional events in the near future . The historical themes included the Brandenburg and Prussian Wars (No. 131 Der alten Dessauer ), the Wars of Liberation (No. 18 Lützow's wild daring hunt ), the German-Danish War of 1864, the Franco-German War of 1870/71, events the German colonial wars in the colonies of Cameroon , German South West Africa ( uprising of the Herero and Nama ) and German East Africa (No. 151 in the fight against Hendrik Witboi , No. 136 East Africa in Flames , No. 200 A Murder in Cameroon ). Further topics were the recent German naval history (No. 51: Peter Hansen, the hero of Tres Forcas , No. 64 The sniper from the "Meteor" , No. 127 President Castro's adjutant ), the Boxer Rebellion (No. 15 The hero girl of Tientsin ) and the Boer War . Some booklets were laid out as biographies about popular German historical persons such as Ferdinand von Zeppelin , Ferdinand von Schill , Hans Joachim von Zieten , Emin Pascha ( Eduard Schnitzer ). An exception was a booklet about the then President of the USA , Theodore Roosevelt , about which, however, Roosevelt's Rauhreiter existed its own series of war novels, which also appeared in large format in 30 issues in 1911 by the Dresden Columbia Verlag.
