Robert Heymann
Robert Heymann (born February 28, 1879 in Munich ; † 1946 ) was a German writer , dramaturge , screenwriter and film director .
Life
Heymann has published dramas and novels since 1901 (including "Istar, this is love", "Death", "Herrenrecht", "The picture of Sais" and "Fallen women" ). From 1902 he also worked as a dramaturge for the Überbrettl , the Central Theater in Zurich , and the Intime Theater in Munich. At times he was a journalist for the Basler Zeitung .
During the First World War, the Berlin Luna Film gave him a contract as a screenwriter and director. Heymann remained true to the dramatic accentuation in his films and shot with actors such as Theodor Loos , Joseph Schildkraut , Ernst Hofmann and Friedrich Kühne . From 1918 he limited his film work to writing screenplays and in the mid-1920s he withdrew from the film business.
With his series of magazines, Miracles of the Future - Novels from the Third Millennium , published in 1909/1910, he is regarded as one of the first German representatives of science fiction in entertainment literature .
He must not be confused with his son, the crime and western author Robert Heymann junior (Robert Arden, 1901–1963).
