Hurricane # 1 is a British rock band in the late 1990s that can be attributed to the Britpop genre. After two albums in the 1990s, it broke up, but reformed itself into a completely new line-up in 2014.

Band history

First years (1996-1999)

The band was formed in 1997; Members included former Ride guitarist Andy Bell (guitar), Alex Lowe (vocals and guitar), Will Pepper (bass) and Gareth Farmer (drums). They released two albums on the Creation Records label , to which other well-known bands such as Oasis or The Jesus and Mary Chain were under contract. Their breakthrough came when the song Step Into My World from their debut album Hurricane # 1 was used in a Volkswagen commercial. It reached number 29 on the British charts. The title track of her second album, Only the Strongest Will Survive , was her biggest chart success at number 19.

When Andy Bell left the band in 1999 to play bass with Gay Dad , the group broke up after only two years. Dad became bass player for Oasis shortly afterwards . Lion

reformation

In 2014 the band returned. From the original lineup, however, only guitarist and singer Alex Lowe was left. Instead, brothers Carlo and Lucas Marianni on bass and guitar and Chris Campbell were the new drummers.

On November 26, 2015, the band's third album was released under the title Find What You Love and Let It Kill You on the German independent label Wallpaper Records . Bell did not participate in the reunion, but could be heard as a guest guitarist on the track Think of the Sunshine . Lowe wrote the album alone in the hospital while being treated for cancer .

Her fourth album Meodic Rainbows followed on October 12, 2016, initially in Japan, and worldwide only in November of the same year. It was produced by Danny Saber .
