Hurum

Hurum is a former municipality in the former province ( Fylke ) Buskerud , now Viken , in Norway . Hurum was incorporated into the municipality of Asker on January 1, 2020 . Hurum last had 9,521 inhabitants in January 2019 and covered an area of ​​163 km². The administrative seat was Klokkarstua. In the north, Hurum bordered on the municipality of Røyken , which was also incorporated into Asker , otherwise Hurum was surrounded by the Oslofjord and Drsamefjord .

Holmsbu harbor

The commune formed the southern part of the peninsula of the same name. Most of the residents live in the villages of Sætre , Tofte , Holmsbu and Klokkarstua . Filtvet , Kana , Rødtangen and Ersvika are also in the municipality .

Localities

Sætre

Sætre has 3,184 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2007). There are industrial plants for the production of explosives here. The operating museum of the Nitroglycerin Companiet is well worth seeing.

Tofte

3083 inhabitants live in Tofte (as of January 1, 2007). Tofte is known for its cellulose factory ( Södra Cell Tofte ). The Hurum youth school and Södra Cell Tofte received the award on October 4th, 2006 for the best cooperation between school and company in Europe. Tofte is also famous for its wine, the Golden Power . This sparkling wine consists of 70% rhubarb , 20% apple and 10% grape juice and has been produced in the Filtvet vineyard (small town near Tofte) since 1886. The local radio station Radio Hurum broadcasts from Tofte on FM 104.3 MHz. In Tofte, the world's first osmotic power plant went into operation on November 24th, 2009 .

Holmsbu

340 inhabitants live in Holmsbu (as of January 1, 2007). The place has had city rights since 1847. Many artists lived in Holmsbu, whose works are exhibited in the Hurum picture gallery . A particularly large number of works are by Henrik Ingvar Sørensen (* February 12, 1882, † February 24, 1962 in Oslo), one of the leading Norwegian painters of his time. The Holmsbu Kirke is a long church built in 1887 .

Klokkarstua

In Klokkarstua, the former administrative seat of the municipality, there are 593 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2007).
