Hutchesons' Hall
The Hutcheson 'Hall , formerly Hutcheson' Hospital is a former hospital, and today's restaurant in the Scottish city of Glasgow . In 1966 the building was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.
history
The Glasgow lawyers George and Thomas Hutcheson donated the funds to set up a school for impoverished boys and a hospice for old men. This gave birth to the Hutchesons 'Grammar School and the Hutchesons' Hospital. Originally located at a different location, the hospital moved to its current location in 1805. Scottish architect David Hamilton provided the design . In 1876 the interior was modernized according to a design by John Baird . In the meantime passed to the National Trust for Scotland , the building was restored in the 1970s or 1980s. After a library, a school and shops had been housed in the building in the meantime, it had been empty since 2008. A storm had damaged Hutchesons' Hall and water entered. It was restored in 2014 and has been home to restaurants ever since. The total cost was £ 1.3 million.

It is the corner house between Ingram Street and John Street in central Glasgow. It's at the head of Hutcheson Street . The masonry of the classicist , three-story building is rusticated on the ground floor . The five axes wide main facade along Ingram Street is more intricately ornamented. The central entrance portal is designed in a Doric style. Corinthian columns and pilasters set back on the upper floor structure the facade in the style of a colonnade . Statues of the two founders, which James Colquhoun created for the original building in 1649, rest in flanking aedicules .
A square tower with a slim helmet sits on top of the building. Its edges are decorated with paired Tuscan columns that support a cornice . The tower is continued above this. Tower clocks are used on all sides. The pointed helmet begins above the Ionian rotunda. It closes with a gold-plated globe with a cross.
