Hochmoorsee |
The Huvenhoopssee is an approx. 4 ha large lake near the village of Augustendorf northwest of Zeven in the Elbe-Weser triangle in Lower Saxony .
It is located in the Huvenhoopsmoor nature reserve , one of the few untouched moorland areas between the Elbe and Weser rivers . The high moor is between 1 and 3 meters deep and surrounded by a swampy zone of vibrating turf.
In addition to the diverse flora with heather , bog birch , sundew , peat moss and cotton grass, there are also numerous rare bird species. Snipe , black grouse , curlew , great gray shrike and short-eared owl can be found here .
