distribution and habitat

The wind-winged cicada occurs in southern Central Europe , the Mediterranean region , southern Russia , Kazakhstan and Asia Minor . In Germany , the species has so far been proven in the following federal states: Baden-Württemberg , Rhineland-Palatinate , Bavaria and Saxony-Anhalt . The green leaf cicada loves warmth, whereby the microclimate (i.e. exposed locations, little shade of the host plant) has a high influence on the probability of occurrence. It lives on fallow land and ruderal biotopes, imperfections on dry grass, mostly on skeletal or loose soils.
