Hydroxylases

Hydroxylases are enzymes that catalyze the introduction of a hydroxyl group into a molecule with the help of an oxidation reaction ( hydroxylation ). They belong to the group of oxidoreductases .

The hydroxylases include:

Phenylalanine hydroxylase : phenylalanine → tyrosine
Tyrosine hydroxylase : tyrosine → DOPA
Tryptophan hydroxylase : tryptophan → 5-hydroxytryptophan
Phenol hydroxylase : phenol → pyrocatechol
