Hydroxylases
Hydroxylases are enzymes that catalyze the introduction of a hydroxyl group into a molecule with the help of an oxidation reaction ( hydroxylation ). They belong to the group of oxidoreductases .
The hydroxylases include:
- Phenylalanine hydroxylase : phenylalanine → tyrosine
- Tyrosine hydroxylase : tyrosine → DOPA
- Tryptophan hydroxylase : tryptophan → 5-hydroxytryptophan
- Phenol hydroxylase : phenol → pyrocatechol
