Hymns to the Night is a short film - drama of German auteur Selcuk Cara and the cameraman Nils A. Witt in cooperation with the Fachhochschule Dortmund and Amfortas Productions from the year 2013 .

The short film had its premiere in 2013 under its international title Hymns to the night in the section of the film festival Rio Filmfest de Cinema , Brasilia. In the same year he was included in the official selection of the Florence Festival Internazionale Di Cinema LGBT , Italy, Outtakes Film Festival , New Zealand and, together with films by Fatih Akin, Rosa von Praunheim and Tom Tykwer, in the official selection of the El lugar sin limites film Festivals , Ecuador. Hymns to the Night had its European premiere in Switzerland in 2014 at the Everybodysperfect Filmfest , Geneva. It had its German premiere at the Perlen Filmfestival in Hanover.

Two young girls meet every evening in their so-called Poetic Cave and soak up the literature of the German Romantics . The younger of the two girls, based on the hymns to the night of Novalis, goes a step too far and tries to kill herself. The older of the two girls initially remains in the day world, then she understands the young girl's sensual decision and decides to follow her into the night world.
