The hypogeum of Champtier des Bureaux ( French Hypogée du Champtier des Bureaux ) is located southeast of Buno-Bonnevaux , near Etampes in the south of the Essonne department in France . The hypogeum , discovered in 1954, has been registered as a Monument historique since 1975 .

It is a chamber beneath an uneven, thick slab of sandstone . The chamber and passage consist of low, untidy dry stone walls made of limestone . The floor is paved. The oval chamber is about 3.1 m long and 1.5 m wide, with a height of 0.95 m at the entrance and 1.1 m at the end. The access was closed by a 0.75 m high and 0.9 m wide sandstone slab that has disappeared.

Archaeological excavations

The Neolithic tomb was excavated by R. Hardouin between 1954 and 1956. It contained the disordered remains of about 20 individuals. Some bones are missing, small bones are few. According to JG Pariat and A. Senée, the small number of anatomical connections and teeth could indicate that these are secondary burials. Stones made of non-characteristic flint were the only finds.

Gérard Bailloud connects this tomb with the Seine-Oise-Marne culture (SOM culture). The C14 dating corresponds to the period between 2613 and 2202 BC. Chr.

In the village is the hypogeum of Fontaine Saint-Léger and the Polissoir des Sept coups d'épée .
