Han Sang Hyuk ( kor. 한상혁) (born July 5, 1995 ), better known as Hyuk ( kor. 혁), is a South Korean singer and actor who is under contract with Jellyfish Entertainment . Hyuk made his debut in May 2012 as a member of the South Korean boy band VIXX and began his acting career in 2016 in the comedy-action film Chasing as Han Won-tae .

Hyuk was born and raised in Daejeon , South Korea , and has two older sisters. He studied at the Hanlim Multi Art School and the Dong-Ah Institute of Media and Arts .

2012–2013: Debut with VIXX

Hyuk was one of ten apprentices who were selected for the Mnet reality show MyDOL and became part of the final line-up of the new boy group VIXX . The group had with Super Hero on May 24, 2012 on M! Countdown her debut.

In 2013, Hyuk starred with VIXX in Episode 4 of the SBS TV drama The Heirs .

2014–2015: TV shows

In 2014, Hyuk had a small cameo with Leo in the SBS TV drama Glorious Day and was part of the cast of the SBS show Law of the Jungle in Brazil . In the same year Hyuk was part of the cast of the MBC Every 1 TV show Hitmaker , in which he became the leader of the project group Big Byung founded by Jung Hyung Don and Defconn . Members of the group were also N , Jackson from the boy group Got7 and Sungjae from the boy group BtoB . Under the stage name Hyuk-di , he and the group released the two singles "Stress Come On" and "Ojingeo Doenjang" (Hangul: 오징어 된장).

On October 21, 2015, a cover version of the Jeff Bernat song "Call You Mine" recorded by Hyuk was released on the official VIXX YouTube channel . Shortly afterwards he was allowed to perform the song live at the VIXX LIVE FANTASIA UTOPIA Concerts .

2016-present: Acting debut

In 2015, it was announced that Hyuk would make his 2016 acting debut in the comedy-action film Chasing as Han Won-tae starring alongside Kim Jung-tae and Kim Seung-woo , and directed by Oh In Cheon . In the film, he plays a rebellious leader of a fearless high school gang. The film opened in South Korean theaters on January 7, 2016. For his work in Chasing , Hyuk received the Best Action Movie New Performer Award at the Shanghai International Film Festival 2016 .

On February 13, 2016, Hyuk released a cover version of the Justin Bieber song "Love Yourself" on the official YouTube channel of VIXX as a Valentine's Day present for his fans .
