GOT7 ( kor. 갓 세븐 ) is a seven-piece K-pop band from South Korea . The band, which uses many elements of hip-hop , was formed by JYP Entertainment and debuted in 2014.
history
On December 24, 2013 announced JYP Entertainment that they have a new hip-hop - boy band are set. In January 2014 teasers were published on YouTube and on January 20th the EP Got It? together with the single Girls Girls Girls . The EP reached number two on the South Korean Gaon Charts . The single reached number 21 on Gaon's digital singles chart. In June the second mini-album "Got Love" was released, which made it to # 1. In the same year the group signed a contract with a Japanese label and released the first single "Around The World" in October, which landed at # 3. Towards the end of the year they released the first album "Identify", which also landed at # 1.
In 2015 the group received the “New Artist” award. In June, the second Japanese single "Love Train" was released, which landed at # 4. A month later the group made their Korean comeback with the third mini-album "Just Right", which landed at # 3. In September the third Japanese single "Laugh Laugh Laugh" was released, which made it to # 1 and is the group's first No.1 hit. In the same month the fourth mini-album "Mad" was released, which landed at # 1. The title track "If You Do" is the group's first song to make it into the top 10.
In March 2016 the fifth mini-album "Flight Log: Departure" was released, which landed at # 1. The album landed at # 2 on the Billboard World Albums chart. In April the group played their first concert “Fly Tour” in Seoul. In addition, they gave concerts in China, Japan, Thailand, Singapore and the USA. In September the second album "Flight Log-Turbulence" was released, which landed at # 1. The title track "Hard Carry" was the group's first song to make it into the top three. The album made it to # 1 on the Billboard World Albums chart.
In March 2017 the group released the sixth mini-album "Arrival", which made it to # 1. The title song "Never Ever" made it into the top 5. In October they released their seventh mini-album "7 for 7", which became No.1. The title song "You Are" made it to number 12 on the charts.
The fan club is known as I GOT7, 아가 새 and อา กา เซ่.
