Işın Yalçınkaya

Işın Yalçınkaya (born April 24, 1943 in Amasya ) is a Turkish prehistorian .

Life

Born to Hüseyin Suphi Acar and Fethiye Muzaffer (Gülhan) Acar she studied after attending the primary school in Istanbul and the middle school in Ankara and the Girls High School in Bursa at the University of Ankara Prehistory and Early History . There she received her doctorate in 1973, obtained the academic degree Doçent in 1982 with a thesis on the Karain Cave and became a professor in 1989. From 1982–84 she was deputy president of the Department of Archeology and Art History. In 2012 she retired.

From 1967 to 1973 Yalçınkaya participated in the excavations in the Karain Cave under the direction of İsmail Kılıç Kökten . As part of the Euphrates Dam project , she led studies on Malatya and Adıyaman from 1967 to 1973 . From 1985 new excavations took place under her leadership in the Karain cave, from 1989 in the cave of Öküzini , both in the Turkish province of Antalya .

Işın Yalçınkaya is a member of the Société Française Préhistorique and the Union Internationale des Sciences Pré- et Protohistorique . She is also the editor of the publications of the Department of Archeology of Anatolia at Ankara University . She is married to Mustafa Yavuz Yalçinkaya and has one child.
