ICC World Cricket League

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The ICC World Cricket League is a tournament group in the international ODI - cricket since 2007 , which represents a way to the Cricket World Cup below the test nations . From 2019 it will be replaced by the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 and the ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League .

Origins

The previously established ICC Six Nations Challenge was replaced by a league system that opened up a qualification path over several stages for the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier and thus for the subsequent Cricket World Cup .

procedure

In 2007 the teams involved were divided into divisions based on their strengths. Each division, usually with six teams, holds a tournament. The (mostly two) best placed move up to the higher ranking division, those (mostly two) last placed into the subordinate division. The number of divisions and the exact qualification path varied from event to event.

Events

A total of four seasons of the World Cricket League took place.
