Competence groups

ID4me currently has 4 competence groups:

  • Adoption - The Adoption competence group takes care of the marketing, aims to increase awareness of the initiative and gain additional login partners and identity agents.
  • Community - The Community competence group works closely with the Adoption competence group and sees its focus on networking with communities such as WordPress, Joomla, Typo3 and many other open source projects. The aim of the group is to improve cooperation and to build up communication between the communities and the individual developers in order to enable the easiest possible access to ID4me technology in the sense of open source.
  • Technical - The technical competence group takes care of the technical details of the ID4me technology, works together with other relevant standardization bodies ( OpenID Foundation OIDF, Internet Engineering Task Force IETF) and maintains a freely accessible collection of technical regulations, useful guides and reference implementations for those interested Circles (registries, registrars, web shops).
  • Governance - The governance competence group deals with the management and future development of the ID4me system. Even if ID4me is an open standard that everyone can use, information security should nonetheless be promoted and best practice developed, also with regard to the possible introduction of a seal of approval . The governance group works with the technical competence group with regard to the system requirements.

Login with ID4me

At the CloudFest 2018 in Rust, ID4me will present its Login with ID4me . The advantages for the user should be as follows: You get one ID for everything instead of having to remember many different user names and passwords. This increases security as there is no recycling of passwords. The user retains control over who he gives access to his data and can revoke his consent at any time. Activities such as user behavior or the use of certain online services are neither logged, analyzed nor passed on to third parties. In addition, users can change their identity provider at any time, i.e. also use another provider with authentication.
