The name Friedrichshammer refers to the founder of the works, Prince Friedrich Albrecht von Anhalt-Bernburg . The second hammer served as an extension of the iron and steel works in Mägdesprung and had a fresh fire and a rod iron hammer . In 1842 the hammer was converted into a forge and then operated until 1855. The two former hammer buildings were later converted for residential purposes. Below the houses there is still the historic Hammergraben with mouth holes that can still be seen in the area of the foundations. The complete hammer rose including the mouth hole and the bank reinforcement are also preserved . In addition, from basalt shale built abutment of the former bridge.
The written form Second Hammer is also used as the spelling of the place name .
