inTouch is a weekly women's magazine from the Bauer Media Group .
The US edition of the magazine was launched in November 2002 and the German edition in October 2005. Since September 2019, InTouch has been produced together with Closer , Joy and Shape by a joint editorial team headed by Angela Meier-Jakobsen in Hamburg . The sold circulation is 73,780 copies, a decrease of 70.4 percent since 2006.
The magazine deals primarily with the topics of stars , fashion and cosmetics . More than 30 percent of the magazine consists of pictures . Compared to other magazines, there is much less advertising in this one . In general, the magazine is structured similarly to US gossip magazines.
According to Bildblog , questionable stories about celebrity weight problems are a cornerstone of InTouch's business model. Almost half of the cover stories have to do with celebrity weight and (allegedly failed) diets. A completely unrealistic ideal of beauty is conveyed. Another part of the cover stories is characterized by alleged miracle cures that are supposed to make “slim and beautiful” “in record time” and that are reported completely uncritically. Critical side effects would be concealed and recommendations would be made to buy the funds.
