I Like Trains (also: iLiKETRAiNS ) is a British indie rock - band from Leeds .
history
After the EP Progress Reform released in June 2006 , the first album Elegies to Lessons Learned was released in January 2007 on the British label Beggar's Banquet . The instrumental EP The Christmas Tree Ship followed in December 2008 and the second album He Who Saw The Deep on October 25, 2010 . In May 2012 the third album The Shallows was released.
In 2016 the documentary A Divorce Before Marriage by the British filmmakers Ben Lankester and Matt Hopkins was released, which follows the development of the band; from the loss of the first major record deal to the near-dissolution in 2014/15.
style
On the first two albums, the band deals with tragic historical events. Some B-sides of the single releases take up further aspects of the respective story.
For example, the song A Rook House for Bobby is an artistic interpretation of the life story of the eleventh world chess champion Bobby Fischer , which takes up his quote that he wanted to live in a chess tower.
With the third album He Who Saw the Deep , the band slowly moves away from the historical to contemporary issues such as environmental pollution, digitization and interpersonal drama.
