Music and lyrics

I Luv Your Girl is a Contemporary R & B - ballad whose Instrumental primarily of Rhodes -Klängen and characteristic Snaps is characterized. The Dream uses its trademark falsetto singing at some points . In the in the music video used remix version of the interpreter is from rapper Young Jeezy supports who recites a verse at the beginning of the song. In terms of content, the song is about the first-person narrator having a relationship with the girlfriend of a third party. Although this is a recurring motif in the R&B and hip-hop genre, I Luv Your Girl differs from other works in that the performer gets into remorse and moral conflicts and is not proud of his actions. He advises the woman to go home to her partner, which she refuses with harsh words ("fuck that nigga"). He hopes that the man who is betrayed by his wife will not have serious feelings for her in order not to get hurt. Still, the sexual desire for her would be too great to resist.

The two finally leave the location hand in hand and drive off together on a motorcycle while her husband stays behind. Intermediate cuts show The-Dream or Young Jeezy reciting and dancing the song in front of flickering green laser beams . The former is wrapped in the flag of the United States in several settings . Before the actual plot of the video, there are also scenes from another party where Young Jeezy is sitting on a sofa while there is a party around. In addition, several women perform a choreography in front of violet lasers .

criticism

I Luv Your Girl received positive reviews. Despite its soft nature, the song would capture the essence of rap music from The-Dreams hometown of Atlanta in 2007 and would be an impressionistic take on the Snap & B genre. While the music sounds angelic, the lyrics would be daring and funny. It would be a gentle but lewd doo-wop song in which the artist is both brutal and in love. The interpreter would be less interested in dealing with the sexual aspects of the story than with the tragic situation that results from them. It was also praised how precisely The-Dream handled the phrase "fuck that nigga". This, overlaid on the melancholy beat , would always have a devastating effect and the good feeling that The-Dream feels when dealing intimately with his affair contrasts with the heartbreak of her boyfriend.
