history

2012–2017: musical beginnings

In 2012 the singer and songwriter Tine Schulz founded the duo CousCous with the pianist Till Moritz Eßinger . In the same year they could be heard in numerous radio reports and airplays; among others at apollo radio , MDR Info and Hessischer Rundfunk . Her song Snow White was recommended by Bruno Kramm in the FAZ column "Kramm's Hits". In 2013 they wrote the song King and Queen for the short film Gegenüber by Heidi Lachmann. In 2014 a duo tour followed with Sophie Janes (United Kingdom) as well as further airplays on Radio Fritz and on Südwestrundfunk . In 2016 the band received artist funding from Kulturpaten Dresden. In 2016 the album Tales was released. The album consists of 14 tracks and the accompanying novel The story of the boy with the butterflies in his stomach . The hardcover book was illustrated by Anemone Kloos and recorded, mixed and co-produced by London-based producer Peter Junge. The subsequent tour included more than 200 concerts in Germany, the Czech Republic and Switzerland. On July 8, 2017, I WANT POETRY performed as part of the “Hören vorsehen” series at the film nights on the banks of the Elbe before the main film La La Land .

2018 – today: Re-established as I WANT POETRY

At the beginning of 2018, the two musicians officially dissolved the duo CousCous. In April the band announced the re-establishment as I WANT POETRY. The name is a quote from the novel Brave New World by Aldous Huxley , which says: “But I don't want comfort. I want God, I want poetry, I want real danger, I want freedom, I want goodness, I want sin. "Translated:" I don't need comfort. I want god. I want poetry. I want real figures and freedom and virtue. I want sin! ”In 2018 they met producer Michael Vajna, with whom they worked on the recordings for the follow-up album in the following months. On June 7, 2019, the first single Adrenaline was released. The song and music video met with a positive response in international music blogs. The page Wolf in a Suit wrote (translated): "Fascinating and inviting cinematic and melodic experiences [...] The soundscape is so real, so human and so inspiring that our imagination runs away with us." And The Sound Sniffer described the title as follows (translated): "This is a pretty unique sound here [...] intense, original and powerful." On September 13, 2019 the second single Water followed . In the music video for the third single Growing Pains , the dancer Nastya Memphis from Saint Petersburg appeared in a specially designed choreography. The fourth single Islanders was released on July 10, 2020, including a music video that was shot with multiple exposure techniques. The English-language blog Stereo Stickman compared parts of the song with Kate Bush and Florence + the Machine and wrote about the song: “Brillant, a song that evolves from good to great over its almost five-minute duration and is poetically refreshing for thought. "

The second album is titled Human Touch and is due to be released on October 9, 2020, followed by a tour of Germany.
