Iain Armitage (born July 15, 2008 in Georgia ) is an American child actor . He is known for his starring role as Sheldon Cooper in the television series Young Sheldon .

life and career

Iain Armitage is the son of Scottish actor Euan Morton and theater producer Lee Armitage . His grandfather is the politician Richard Armitage .

Armitage first gained notoriety through his YouTube channel, on which he publishes video reviews of musicals.

In 2017 he began to take on his first acting roles in front of the camera, after having performed on various theatrical stages for some time. He made his acting debut in an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit . This was immediately followed by a recurring role as Ziggy Chapman on the HBO series Big Little Lies . He has already taken on his first film roles, for example in Castle made of Glass and Our Souls at Night .

In November 2017, the series Young Sheldon was released , in which Armitage can be seen in the title role of young Sheldon Cooper . The series is an offshoot of the hit sitcom The Big Bang Theory , in which this role is played in adulthood by Jim Parsons . The latter is involved in the offshoot series as a producer and also acts as a narrator.
