Iain Douglas-Hamilton

Iain Douglas-Hamilton (born August 16, 1942 ) is a British environmental activist and documentary filmmaker who became internationally known primarily for his work and reports on elephants .

Career

At Oriel College , Oxford , Douglas-Hamilton earned both a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and a Dr. phil. in zoology. In 2010 he received the Indianapolis Prize from the Indianapolis Zoological Society for his work in protecting elephants.

In 1993 he founded the Save the Elephants organization . Douglas-Hamilton is a keynote speaker for the annual Wildlife Conservation Network expo. His reports, including about the persecution of elephants and their hunting for ivory, contributed significantly to the fact that the Washington Convention on Endangered Species in 1989 banned the trade in ivory. He made many documentaries about elephants in various African countries . He also used the latest technology for his films. So he continued z. B. a camera on the head of an elephant, so that this served as a cameraman.

Douglas-Hamilton is married and has two daughters, Saba Douglas-Hamilton , who also works for environmental protection, and is a well-known documentary filmmaker, and Mara Mond Douglas-Hamilton, known as "Dudu", is the film producer.
