Ian Bell (game developer)

Ian Bell (* 1962 in Hatfield (Hertfordshire) ) is a British game developer . He studied mathematics at the University of Cambridge and graduated in 1985. In 1986 he graduated with a degree in computer science. Bell was the author of the computer game Elite , alongside David Braben . He also co-wrote the sequels to the game, Elite Plus (1991) and Frontier: Elite 2 (1993).

Before Elite wrote Bell Free Fall , a game which, in a Coriolis - Space Station will take place, Bell half-seriously as the first fighting game described. The BBC Micro game Free Fall was published by Acornsoft in 1983 . Bell later published its Free Fall and Elite games with the source code as freeware on its website.

He now works as a senior software engineer for Autodesk . Bell was a spokesperson at the 2009 GameCity Video Game Festival.
