He played with VfB Lübeck , where he spent a total of 15 years of his career in the men's division, for three years in the 2nd Bundesliga and reached the semi-finals of the DFB Cup in the 2003/04 season .

Career

After playing at VfL Bad Schwartau in his youth , Ibrahim Türkmen switched to the A-youth team of the then association league club VfB Lübeck in 1990, where he was already used as a youth in the men's team. He made it to the third division league with VfB in 1993 and to the second division in 1995 .

After a second league year with 19 missions, he left Lübeck and moved to the 2nd Turkish League to Eskişehirspor . However, he was not happy there and returned to VfB in 1999.

There he soon became a regular and with 28 appearances and six goals played a major role in the renewed promotion to the second division in 2002. After finishing the 2002/03 season with Lübeck in 11th place, he was on the 20th Matchday of the next season with Lübeck in 6th place with a view to the promotion ranks and was only just eliminated in the semi-finals of the DFB Cup with 2: 3 aet against the clear favorites Werder Bremen . However, Ibrahim Türkmen lost eight of the last 14 games in the league with VfB and had to relegate back to the regional football league after a very successful season .

After relegation, Türkmen narrowly missed promotion twice with VfB Lübeck. In the 2007/08 season he was no longer an undisputed regular player and suffered a serious shoulder injury. After he did not get a new contract, he played for the Schleswig-Holstein regional upper division club SG Sylt-Haddeby in the 2008/09 season , but only made a few appearances due to the after-effects of the injury. On July 4, 2009, he ended his active career as part of a farewell game at Lübeck's Lohmühle .
