Icaro Air was an Ecuadorian airline based in Quito and based at Quito Airport .

Destinations

As of June 2009, Icaro flew from Quito to Guayaquil and Manta . Since July 2009, Icaro Air has also operated cargo flights from Quito to Bogotá with a Boeing 737-290C .

Incidents

The Fokker F28 , which was destroyed on September 22, 2008, on June 23, 2008
  • On September 22, 2008, shortly after 11:00 a.m. local time, an Icaro (HC-CDT) Fokker F-28 took off from Quito Mariscal Sucre Airport with destination Coca. The machine collided with an antenna and came to a stop about 400 m behind the runway on a wall. A fire developed, but it was quickly brought under control. None of the 62 passengers or crew members were injured in the incident. Quito Airport was subsequently closed for around an hour. The reason for the incident is unclear.

  • In June 2008 Icaro Air received international attention with the introduction of approximately 25-minute fashion shows called "Sky Fashion" on some flights between Quito and Guayaquil.
