Ida Kristine Nielsen (* 1975 in Aarhus ), also known as Bass Ida , Bassida and Ida Funkhouser , is a Danish bassist , songwriter and singer . Their music is a mixture of funk and hip-hop with influences from reggae and world music .

biography

Nielsen started playing bass when he was 16. From 1993 to 1998 she studied at Det Kongelige Danske Music Conservatory (Royal Danish Conservatory ) in Copenhagen and graduated with the electric bass as the main instrument.

Nielsen was a member of various bands , including the Belgian group Zap Mama , the Danish pop-rock band Michael Learns to Rock , the American funk band The New Power Generation and the funk -rock trio 3rdEyeGirl . The latter two were backing bands for Prince .

In 2008 Nielsen released her first solo album Marmelade . Her collaboration with Prince began in 2010 when she joined the New Power Generation , where she sang and played bass. The collaboration lasted until Prince's death in 2016.

Since then she has been on tour with her own band. In 2020 she released her fifth solo album 02022020 .
