Ida Random

Ida Random (born April 2, 1945 in Scotland ) is a British film architect with a long career in Hollywood .

Life

Ida Random spent her childhood in South Africa and Liberia . She later moved to Vancouver with her parents . From there she went to Los Angeles and made contact with film. She did her first work as an assistant to the film architects Richard Sylbert and Terence Marsh . As Sylbert's colleague, Ida Random received her first mention in 1982 as a film architect for the artist biography Frances .

Immediately afterwards, the Scot began her work as the sole responsible chief designer. From then on, Ida Random designed the film structures for mostly high-quality entertainment films, including Brian De Palma 's Death Comes Twice , the Western Silverado and Wyatt Earp - The Life of a Legend and the tragic comedy The War of the Roses . In 1989, Ida Random received an Oscar nomination for her sets for the autistic drama Rain Man .
