Idrissa Ouédraogo (born January 21, 1954 in Banfora , Upper Volta , † February 18, 2018 in Ouagadougou ) was a Burkinabe filmmaker.

life and career

Ouédraogo completed his training in Ouagadougou , Paris and Kiev . After obtaining a diploma at the Institut africain d'études cinématographiques in Ouagadougou, he worked on various short films from 1981, including Poko , who won first prize at the FESPACO pan-African film festival . In 1986 he directed his first feature film Yaam Dabo , the 1989 Yaaba - grandmother and 1990 Tilaï followed, of the Cannes festival in 1990 the Grand Prix was given to the jury.

In 2002 he took part with an episode in the film 11'09 ″ 01 - September 11 . Ouédraogo also produced the television series Kadi Jolie , which was also shown on French television.

In 2017 he was accepted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), which awards the Oscars every year.
