Carolien (Ien) van den Heuvel-de Blank (born August 7, 1927 in Tiel , † October 13, 2010 in Heemskerk ) was a Dutch politician ( PvdA ).

Heuvel, who joined the PvdA in 1946, was there from 1968 to 1974 chairwoman of the women's organization and a member of the party executive committee. From 1974 to 1979 she was the successor to André van der Louw as chairman of the Social Democratic Party and she was a member of the First Chamber of the States General . During this time, the relationship between the PvdA and its German sister party, the SPD, deteriorated . The reasons for this were the sharp criticism of the PvdA on the radical decree by Federal Chancellor Willy Brandt and the PvdA's uncritical attitude towards the GDR from the point of view of the SPD .

Heuvel was also a board member of a cooperation of the PvdA, several left-wing organizations and newspapers and the VARA .

From 1979 to 1989 she was a member of the European Parliament .
