Ignacy Leonard Petelenz (born September 14, 1850 in Turka , Galicia , Austrian Empire , † June 20, 1911 in Cracow ) was a Polish high school teacher and politician . From 1907 to 1911 he was a member of the Austrian House of Representatives .

education and profession

Petelenz was born as the son of the financial guard commissioner Antoni Petelenz. He attended the grammar school in Suczawa in Bukovina and moved to the grammar school in Lemberg until 1869. He studied philosophy (mathematics and natural sciences) at the University of Lemberg until 1872 and passed the teaching examination in 1874. In 1877 he became professor of natural history, mathematics and physics at the Franz Joseph Gymnasium in Lemberg and between 1881 and 1889 he worked as an honorary lecturer in zoology at the Technical University of Lemberg . In 1889 he was promoted to director of the grammar school in Sambor , in 1896 he moved to the first upper secondary school in Krakow as director. In 1908 Petelenz was given leave of absence.

Politics and functions

Petelenz was a local councilor in Sambor before 1896 and was a local councilor in Lemberg between 1909 and 1911. He also acts as chairman of the democratic association in Krakow. Petelenz won the by-election in the Galician constituency 2 (Cracow) in 1901 and succeeded the late MP Ferdynand Weigel on October 17, 1901 . From 1907 until his death he was a member of parliament in the electoral district of Galicia 11 .

Private

Petelenz was married to Agrypina von Ferliewicz for the first time, but she died after two years of marriage. In 1895 he married Maria Tekla Zawadil, with whom he had two sons and a daughter.
