Ignatie Darabant OSBM ( lat : Ignatius Darabanth , born October 1738 in Vicea , Maramureș County ( Romania ); † October 31, 1805 in Oradea ) was Bishop of Oradea Mare ( Greater Oradine ) of the Romanian Greek Catholic Church .

Life

Ignatie Darabant was ordained a priest in June 1765. He was a religious priest, member of the Order of the Basilians of St. Josaphat OSBM. On March 30, 1789, he was appointed Bishop of Großwardein by Emperor Joseph II . He was the imperial advisor and began building a new cathedral to replace the bishop's church, which was destroyed by fire in 1736. In 1792 he established the seminary of the diocese of Großwardein.

He died on October 31, 1805, and his body was later buried in the new cathedral.
