Ignaz Ellminger

Ignaz Ellminger (born June 14, 1843 in Währing near Vienna , † February 2, 1894 in Vienna) was an Austrian landscape painter, dialect poet and drawing teacher.

Ellminger studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna . Then he went on study trips. As a freelance artist, he dealt with landscape painting. Ellminger became a member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus .

In 1876 he was appointed professor of drawing at the communal high school in the 2nd district.

In 1954, Ellmingergasse in the Erlaa district in Vienna's 23rd district was named after him.
