Ignazio Balsamo (actor)
Ignazio Balsamo (born October 25, 1912 in Catania ; † August 7, 1994 there ) was an Italian actor .
Life
Balsamo came into contact with the film scene as an extra when he was involved in films shot in his native Sicily . His expressive, hard face made him play the roles of villains in the theater, where he was discovered by Pietro Germi for his In nome della legge . After this premiere as a member of the Mafia, Balsamo moved to Rome , where he could quickly gain a foothold in the studios, but was determined to be the bad boy. Although he played in a large number of dramas and adventure films as well as in socially committed works, he rarely got beyond supporting roles. For producer Federico Zappulla he also worked as a coordinator of various productions, as well as for Fortunato Misiano .
Balsamo was married to actress Gina Rapicavoli and wrote two comedies set in his homeland.
